For more than 20 years I have worked in the higher education field, focusing on competency-based education in the creative art fields. In that time I have fulfilled many roles including Faculty—teaching design courses, Department Chair, Faculty Development Director, Accreditation Liaison, and Dean of Academic Affairs. All of these have lead me to deep understanding of the design and implementation of training and development courses and programs that prepare students and employees for success in the workplace.

In addition to my work in higher education, I have worked extensively in event planning and management and have served as Master of Ceremonies for hundreds of events. I was a professional graphic designer for many years, specializing in non-profit promotion and publication design. I have also served as a Key Note Speaker at a variety of events and programs focusing on the areas detailed in the Speaking section of this website.

I have earned a Bachelor of Arts from The Evergreen State College focusing on commonalities between art and science; a Master's Degree in Whole Systems Design from Antioch University specializing in epistemology, design theory and systems theory; and a Doctorate Degree in Education from Argosy University with an emphasis in leadership. I have also trained as a pastry chef at The Art Institute of Seattle.

What people have to say about working with me...

“Scott Carnz is what we use to call a Renaissance Man. A rare combination of style, intellect, engagement, preparedness and keen event planning skills, to boot. As a Professional Fundraising Auctioneer I rely on Scott’s finally honed craft to ensure that I can do my job well by employing my skills to raise millions of dollars for non profit organizations. Book him if you can, he’s a catch.”

Laura Michalek, Professional Fundraising Auctioneer

“Scott Carnz is an amazing MC. Why? Because he’s absolutely adorable! In addition to his quick wit and sparkling personality, he is a complete professional. Scott is articulate, well prepared, and quick thinking. As a Master of Ceremonies, one must seamlessly wear the different hats of announcer, program director, and entertainer. Scott does these things wonderfully; he keeps the mood alive and the event moving forward. Working with him on The Art Institute of Seattle student fashion shows and Fashion First, Scott has proved time and time again his talents as an MC. His flexible nature and ability to work well with timelines is an invaluable asset. I would whole-heartedly recommend Scott Carnz to any event lucky enough to have him.”

—Joan Kelly, Joan & Jared Events, Fashion First

“...He is able to communicate effectively with people at all levels and cut through the trivial in order to accomplish the vital. I have a lot of respect for Scott.”

—Scott MacIntire, The Art Institute of Seattle

"Scott is an excellent host by being relaxed, open, confident and funny. He creates events where people are warmly received and hilariously entertained. Scott's events are experiences where participants are able to connect with each other in fun and unanticipated ways. By keeping his attention on the pulse of the audience the event never loses momentum. Scott creates unforgettable events."

Madeline Pinelli, Communications and Change Management, LLC

“If you want to work with someone who is creative, visionary and delightful to work with, Scott Carnz is a perfect choice. As the President and CEO of the Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA), I have worked with Scott over several years on a number of projects but spent the most time with him when he Chaired the TASTE of GSBA, an event which is the annual fundraiser for the GSBA Scholarship Fund. The TASTE has many moving parts, tons of volunteer and staff personalities to juggle and a mandate to raise several hundred thousand dollars for undergraduate students in Washington State. With Scott at the helm of our committee, we had complete confidence that the event would be successful and flawless. We were not disappointed.”

Louise Chernin, President & CEO, Greater Seattle Business Association

"Scott is charming, engaging, and a consummate host. Whatever the style of event, Scott cultivates an atmosphere that is as fabulous as he is. His warmth and wit set the tone for a truly enjoyable evening!"

Ruth Haney, former Managing Director, Theater Schmeater
